FAQ

Omake is a Gift with Purchase (GWP) app for Shopify. It automatically adds free gifts to your customers' carts when they hit spending, quantity, or product-based thresholds you define. Gifts are swapped in at checkout, so the experience is seamless.

The gift bag is a placeholder product that Omake creates in your store during setup. When a customer qualifies for a gift, the gift bag appears in their cart. At checkout, Omake automatically replaces it with the actual gift products. Customers never pay for it — it's always free.

No. Omake includes built-in checkout protection that prevents checkout if the cart only contains the gift bag with no real products. Your customers must have qualifying products in their cart.

The gift bag is automatically removed from the cart. If they add products back and qualify again, it reappears. It's all automatic.

  • Replacement mode gives customers the gifts from their highest qualifying tier only. If they qualify for Tier 1 and Tier 2, they only get Tier 2 gifts.
  • Cumulative mode gives customers gifts from every tier they've unlocked. If they qualify for Tier 1 and Tier 2, they get both sets of gifts.

Replacement is best for simple promotions. Cumulative works great when you want to stack rewards and incentivize higher cart values.

Yes. Each tier can use either a cart total (spend-based) or item count (quantity-based) threshold. You can even mix both types across different tiers.

Yes. Choose Product in cart as the trigger type when creating a tier. Add the products that should trigger the gift, set the match mode (any one product or all products required), and set the required quantity for each trigger product. This is perfect for "Buy X, Get Y" promotions — for example, "Buy our new moisturizer, get a free sample."

If your gift has multiple variants (e.g., different sizes or colors), customers can choose their preferred variant from a dropdown on the cart widget. When setting up the gift, you can select which variants are available for customers to choose from. By default, all variants are eligible.

Yes. On the Your Omake page, open the Customize panel in the sidebar. You can change the accent color (used for progress bars and unlocked indicators), toggle gift product images on or off, and customize the locked/unlocked text for each tier. All text fields support translations for multi-language stores.

Omake offers two options:

  • Shopify Flow (all stores) — Download the Omake Flow template from your dashboard. It automatically removes unclaimed gift products from orders.
  • Checkout Extension (Shopify Plus only) — Install from your dashboard. It hides empty gift bag line items directly at checkout.

Both are available from the main dashboard under the "Keep your orders clean" section.

Yes. All customer-facing text in Omake can be translated — including the gift bag name, locked/unlocked messages, and widget text. Click the translate button (globe icon) next to any text field to add translations for each of your store's published languages.

Yes. If the cart widget needs small styling adjustments for your specific theme, go to Settings > Advanced and add custom CSS. This is intended for developers or edge cases — the widget is designed to work out of the box with most themes.

Yes. If your store uses Shopify Markets or multi-currency, you can set spend thresholds per currency for each tier.

No code editing required. Omake uses a Shopify theme extension that you activate with one click during setup. It works with all Online Store 2.0 themes.

No. The gift logic runs natively on Shopify's infrastructure, so there's no external server call or added latency at checkout. The storefront widget is lightweight and loads asynchronously.

Yes — any active product variant in your store can be assigned as a gift. Just make sure the product has available inventory (or is set to continue selling when out of stock).

Yes. On the Your Omake page, you can change the gift bag's title and image. The title supports translations if your store is multilingual.

At checkout, Omake replaces the gift bag line item with the actual gift products. The gifts appear as $0 line items on the order. Your customer sees the real gift products — not the gift bag — in their order confirmation.

Yes. You can use Shopify Flow to automate actions based on gift orders. For example, tag orders that included gifts or trigger follow-up emails. Omake also provides a ready-made Flow template for order cleanup — download it from your dashboard.

Toggle the status to Inactive on the Your Omake page. The gift bag will stop appearing in carts. Your tier configuration is saved so you can re-enable anytime.
